Mark Coward is New Business Development Manager for Paints & Coatings at Clariant in the Care Chemicals Business Unit. He has been with Clariant for 5 years. He has been in the larger paint industry for 30 years, holding positions in various R&D and commercial roles of increasing scope and responsibility. He has worked in R&D Labs for a paint manufacturer (8 years at PPG), a pigment concentrate producer (17 years at Valspar/Sherwin Williams with Color Corporation of America) and now on the commercial side for a wetting and dispersing agent manufacturer (5 years at Clariant). He has developed many water-based and solvent-based paints and pigment dispersions in his career and holds multiple patents in the Architectural Colorant design space. He has earned a Bachelor’s degree with double major of Chemistry and Environmental Studies from Indiana University. He enjoys helping to solve challenging paint issues by combining chemistry and innovative experimentation. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors.
